About Me
There are many more writers than we know – and not just people who have written books or short stories or poems who haven’t achieved publication. I know people who think like writers, people who see the story in the moment much as a photographer captures an image that tells a story. People who puzzle over the meaning of moments, trying to extract the wisdom of the situation that will help them heal or experience an epiphany or build a bridge.
I write because writing engages my mind in solving problems. It’s creative and fulfilling, sometimes fun, sometimes complex in ways that I didn’t see coming. I write about characters and situations that perplex me and raise questions.
Random facts: I love theatre, especially staged readings. Winnipeg will always feel like my second home. My brother gave me the nickname Kiki when we were little and it’s stuck. I teach a class at a senior center on writing for self-discovery, which is less about writing than it is about how writing helps us unwrap our memories and feelings. And, my cell phone is always on silent.
