The Katelyn Books
In the Katelyn books, I drew on my experiences of growing up Mennonite, having parents who divorced, the confusion of dating in high school, and the recognition that even the closest female friends may not tell each other the difficult things we’re living through.
Katelyn's Affection
With her parents separating, Katelyn’s life is changing. In addition, her boyfriend Nathan has gone away to college. They had shared so much – their faith, two years of dating, volunteer work with kids. Is his silence now telling her how he really feels? If only her best friend Leah weren’t so busy with her first boyfriend, Carter, maybe Katelyn wouldn’t feel so alone.
But she’s not alone for long. Soon Shawn, an outgoing classmate, asks Katelyn out, and she accepts. One date leads to another and soon they are becoming close enough to bridge any differences between their faith backgrounds. As Katelyn’s affection for Shawn grows, she begins to wonder what she’ll do when Nathan reappears.
Katelyn's Friendship
When Katelyn’s best friend Leah faces a personal crisis, she is determined to manage it her own way – at whatever cost. Katelyn, still coming to terms with the end of her parents’ marriage, struggles with her best friend’s choices. Will their friendship survive at this critical time when they both need each other?
